Planned Parenthood is one of the agencies that promote reproductive health for both men and women. It exists across the country, and CSU Northridge students have their own selection of Planned Parenthood chapters to choose from.
One such chapter is the Van Nuys Health Center. Like many Planned Parenthood chapters, it does offer abortion services, but that is just a small part of what they offer. In fact, much of Planned Parenthood’s services exist to prevent women from getting to the point where an abortion may be an option.
“Planned Parenthood, and the Van Nuys Health Center in particular, provides a full range of reproductive health care including cancer screening, contraception, and STD testing and treatment,” says Public Affairs Director Serena Josel.
While it is good to know what is offered, the key is education. Planned Parenthood offers education on each of these, and provides experts to help potential clients know everything they need to know to choose the proper course of action. Education results in wiser decisions, and is the key part of Planned Parenthood that is often overlooked.
The mission of Planned Parenthood is to educate people into making the best decision possible when it comes to reproductive health. Comfort and education make for better decisions.
